5 out of 5 stars Would give it 6 stars if i could!!   May 15, 2008

I am (one of) the world's biggest Marian Keys fans and I have had this book on "pre-order" for I don't know how long! And, I can safely say it didn't disappoint me one bit. Now it's finished I'm gutted, I wish I could turn back the clock and read it for the first time all over again.
Many people have mentioned the "dairy speak" of Lola, which, I admit, did take some getting used to, but once I was into the book it didn't matter at all. Lola was by far the best and funniest character and I was literally laughing out loud at parts. But, as others have mentioned, the book did cover real & gritty issues, domestic violence & alcohol abuse, and covered them well. I dont want to say too much & ruin the book, but it's highly recommended by me. Please just hurry up and write the next one Marian... Perhaps the last Walsh sister?? :o)

5 out of 5 stars More Chick-Lit Gold from Ms Keyes   May 14, 2008

I loved this, couldnt put it down! Its a bit darker than some of her previous, but ultimately stays pretty true to life and has a positive ending, youll be routing for all the girls by the end!!

5 out of 5 stars Marian Keyes- always brilliant!   May 13, 2008

I am a huge Marian Keyes fan. Her books are always funny, well written and address very important issues. This latest book was no exception. Domestic violence is hardly a cheerful topic, but Keyes hammered home, (pardon the pun), in a funny, although touching way, how easy it is for ordinary women to find themselves on the recieving end of violence from men, that to the rest of the world, may appear charming.

Lola was my particular favourate, as she was vulnerable, highly amusing and ultimately a survivor. I simply could not put this book down and as with all of Keye's books, I finished it so quickly I felt sad when I reached the last page.

I really don't understand the negative reviews here. I thought this book was wonderful and will definitely read it again!

5 out of 5 stars Best book ever   May 13, 2008

...........I am giving this 5 stars as I personally thought it was the best book I've ever read, a lot of the reviewers say that they didn't enjoy the way that Lola didn't speak in full sentences, but I have to admit that this was the part I liked best, it reminded me of just a normal person and how they would talk with their friends.

I am really disappointed that I have finished the book, but will be looking out for her next one!

5 out of 5 stars A 'HIT' in every sense of the word   May 13, 2008

Like many of the reviewers listed, I have read all of Marian's books - Kathy Bates character in Misery springs to mind - but I can honestly say that this is the best one yet. This book clearly demonstrates how Keyes has perfected her craft by her clever mix of multi-faceted characters, a gripping storyline and a generous helping of mirth and frivilolity. I found the book quite slow to start with Lola's dated 'Bridget Jones' diary entries and it took a while to warm up to her. However, by the end of the book, I was rooting for all the main female characters to kick tens bells out of the Charming Man. I will now have to join a ten step programme to deal with T. K. W. . . . .The Keyes Withdrawals but look forward to indulging my addiction when her new book is released. No pressure Marian!!
