Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The original James Bond, more than just the first book, the definition of 007.   June 21, 2008

This is not the watered-down film spoof--made by EON, and the formidable Barbara Broccoli--this is the original, gritty novel. The character development is excellent and the depth of the characters that Fleming goes into is remarkable. Fleming even mentions Bond's hobby--his car.

Fleming also introduces the first 'bond-girl' Vesper Lynd, who gives us a description of our hero: "He is very good looking. He reminds me rather of Hoagy Carmichael, but there is something cold and ruthless [about him]".
