The next thrilling novel in the Women's Murder Club series. After a dramatic shoot out at a ferry dock, Detective Lindsay Boxer is called to the scene to find that three people have been killed, and one of her closest friends, Claire, has been shot and lies bleeding, whilst the murderer is on the run. Lindsay promises Claire that she'll hunt down this killer and bring him to justice, but it doesn't prove to be straightforward.A man comes forward claiming to be the ferry murderer and Yuki Castellano, one of the Women's Murder Club, prepares to set out the charges against him. But it's not all over, a child has been abducted and is still missing. To increase the mystery and confusion, there are a series of suspicious and unexplained deaths in the building where Cindy lives - another member is in danger. Lindsay discovers yet more abducted children, and the hunt begins in earnest to find the children......
The kidnap plot and the build up are excellent but the story loses its way a little toward the ending, which is a bit weak. All that aside it was still a great read.

4 out of 5 stars As always a great read!   April 15, 2008
I just love this set of books! I read them for what they are, and love to read how the lives of the Women is progressing, cant wait to read the 7th!

4 out of 5 stars I'll briefly summarize the story   April 12, 2008

as there are numerous excellent reviews posted. In this book Lindsay Boxer is mourning over her best friend, Claire Washburn that had been shot during a shooting on a ferry near the Golden Gate Bridge. If you are a fan of the women's murder club series then you will know that Claire is a coroner and a Club member. Further into the story there are kidnappers that have a desire for the children of the wealthy families. While this crime is polluting the neighborhood there is a goon that is petrifying the tenants in an apartment building in San Francisco. The Women's Club must come to grips with all these crimes and solve them. Sounds great on the surface, unfortunately, these different crime stories go off in different directions and the club never really comes together as a unified group to solve these crimes, which when I finally got to the end of this story I was left with a ton of confusing thoughts. No surprise ending here in this story. I just shook my head trying to understand what it was that I had just read. I'm still a fan of Mr. Patterson and I'll probably buy his new release "You've been Warned" believing that it will be a better read than The 6th Target. I hope!!! I would also recommend, if you missed reading TIN0 GEORGIOU'S masterpiece--THE FATES, go and read it. With fascinating and brilliantly created characters in `THE FATES' coupled with two intertwining plots makes for a completely enjoyable and page-turning read.

3 out of 5 stars Another disappointment from one of my former favourite authors.   March 8, 2008

SAdly, the last few books produced by James Patterson have been a real let down in my opinion - and unfortunately this is no exception!

James seems determined to be one of the world's most prolific authors, with the result that the quality of his work has really deteriorated. Like many children, he appears to have the mentality that quantity is superior to quality. Eventually, they realise the error of their ways - I just wish that he would!

As a result of this, no longer do I await the publication of 'his latest' with almost bated breath. No longer do I rush to grab them at the airport in order to be one of the first to read them. Instead, I wait for them to come out at a cheaper price (like this), and still I have been disappointed - partly because I still hope for a return to form!
Maybe, one day, it will happen - but sadly not with this book - at least in my opinion!

For those who have not read some of his earlier books, this will probably be an enjoyable read. For those of us who loved his earlier works, I fear it is yet another disappointment.
