1 out of 5 stars Patricia Cornwell wrote this?   July 13, 2008

A very disappointing read.
I felt that I had missed a great chunk of the story when I reached the end.
Can't believe this was written by the same author of the Scarpetta series.
A great shame.

5 out of 5 stars Another Good Read From Patricia Cornwell   July 7, 2008
I have enjoyed reading all Patricia Cornwell's books it was hard to put them down you just want to keep reading to see what happens next, i was lucky enough to obtain an advance copy of The Front and found this to be a brilliant follow up from At Risk introdcing Win Garano was just as exciting as all Patricia's books with great twists and great new characters again i didnt want to put it down. Thanks Patricia for another great read.

I wish I had read the other reviews before i purchased my copy. This was possibly the worst book Cornwell has written. I was disappointed with her previous book but decided to risk this one. The plot was sketchy, if there was a plot at all and it skipped from character to character without fleshing any one of them out. The investigation by Win appeared to be superfluous to the story, and why were all the characters so abusive to each other yet at the same time appeared to convey a sexua overtone. Not one of the characters rung true and i couldn't understand why they would even bother to talk to each other, lete alone get into each others beds'. I would not recommend this book to anyone and wish Cornwell would go back to her best loved characters ie Scarletta, Lucy etc. I will hesitate to read any more Patricia Cornwell books in the future. What a shame.A good author gone bad.

I have been an avid fan of Patricia Cornwell since book 1 but of late I have been extremely disappointed and this book was no exception. It lacks everything that made her earlier books so gripping and I can't help but think that maybe this was written for the money. The plot is poor, the characters feeble and well, I did read it through to the end but only because I had paid good money for. I think that in future I will be giving her books a wide berth.

4 out of 5 stars Great Summer read   July 1, 2008
i was lucky enought to be forwarded this book by the Little, Brown Book Group, and i was so very pleased! it isn't like some of her earlier novels, but, that doesn't mean that is isn't worth a good read. i really enjoyed it, and, being a new mum, i thought the smaller, shorter chapters were great. it isn't as long as some of the other Patricia Conwell books i have read in the past, but i liked this. it was great to pack in my beach bag and as soon as i started reading, i had to finnish it! i couldn't put it down. i like the fact that it is 181 pages long, so you can free up an afternoon, sit on the beach and read it from cover to cover, because you won't put it down! she is such a brill writer, and i really hope she writes some more books with these charactors, ( Win Garano, ~Monique Lamont, nana ,Stump, Raggedy Ann, Ect, Ect)

hope this helps, and when the next of these books comes out, i will be the first to go out and buy it and free up of of my afternoons, i just suggest that you do the same!

Happy reading!
