| Customer Reviews:
complex, creepy, superb January 16, 2008 Charles Todd's Inspector Rutledge books never cease to amaze me with their complex, demanding plots. The different strands of this novel unfold with a canny inevitability - but still manage a surprising - and credible - finish.
'Search The Dark' not only provides a suspenseful mystery but also a masterful insight into a society damaged and broken by the fall-out from a terrible war. The intelligence, depth and detail in the writing make this book something more than just a thriller.
The personal nightmare enveloping Inspector Ian Rutledge continues. But as we get to know his character better his sufferings carry even more weight and context. There is a poignancy in his (unconscious) search for healing. And there is no place where the author does not maintain psychological accuracy and acuity.
Wonderful stuff.
