5 out of 5 stars Another fantastic Classroom resource   June 4, 2007

I am a Year 6 teacher, and in History we are covering the period from 1948 to the present day. I was short on resources to start with, and was pointed in the direction of these books by one of the parents ... I have to say, the whole series is TERRIFIC!!!

This one took me right back to my early childhood! (I was born in '64 - so it's great for me!) It also gave the children a terrific idea of what life was like on the '60s. One of their challenges this term has been to produce a 3D diorama in a shoe box - and, as I'm sure you'll imagine, it has been an invaluable research tool for fashions, toys, products and gadgets of the era!

I love it, and hope you do as well!

5 out of 5 stars 1960's Scrapbook (a trip down Memory Lane)   October 20, 2004

I was SO impressed with this book. My family were less so after suffering hours of me shouting "Look at this, i had one of those" and "I'd forgotten all about those, they were brilliant".

I was born in 63, so some things i didn't remember, such as some of the album covers, the boys toys, cars etc. But having an older sister we recognised things that she had. (Especially the Twiggy cut-out book!)

This is a marvellous book in many ways. It can provide a talking point with family and friends and my son was able to use it for an art project at school.

I'm eagerly waiting for the 1970's scrapbook (ordered, just waiting for it to arrive).

These books are a must for all nostalgia fans.

5 out of 5 stars PHENOMENOL !!!   April 12, 2003

I love nostalgia...especially '60's nostalgia...BUT, so often the books and TV shows produced are thin and disappointing. This book is neither. Every single one of these vast pages is crammed with images of so long ago. It is a feast for the eyes. Nostalgia for the soul.

The tremendous British culture, both pop and otherwise, of the 1960's deserves a book of this quality and calibre, so does anyone who loves and remembers Britain in that incredibly colourful and creative time.

As someone who was a small child then, I especially appreciated the pages dedicated to childhood imagery...the comics, the TV shows, the toys, sweet packaging, a whole page dedicated to ice cream packaging and advertising alone!(ZOOM, Orbit, Fab, even Kinky has not been forgotten)...it's all here and more...

The print, the colour, the presentation is of tremendous quality and generosity. Not a single corner has been cut.

I can't wait to give this book to everyone I know who has even the slightest memory or love for Britain in the '60's.

Three cheers and Bravo! to every single person who was involved in creating this absolute masterpiece!
