5 out of 5 stars Take the day off, kick back and prepare to be engrossed   July 8, 2007

I've not read many Dale Brown books but after reading Act of War I'll be paying a lot more attention from now on. The best way to describe Act of War is as thriller that starts off on a high and never quite comes down. You've got the usual recipe of terrorists bent on global catastrophe pitted against the intelligence community trying to stop them. But throw in a new techno weapon and you've got a whole new ballgame. Act of war has page turning appeal, tragedy and laughs all mixed in together.....and it all works in perfect symmetry to give you a book that you'll be willing to miss work for. So do yourself a favour....take the day off....unplug the phone....and prepare to be engrossed.

4 out of 5 stars Very good, worthy of your attention   December 6, 2006
Take one seasoned thriller writer, half a dozen well written good guy characters, some whizz-bang technology in the form of prototype exoskeletons, a few sneaky and conniving bad guys, and a gripping story.

Mix together in a blender for 5 minutes, put in oven and bake for 4 hours.

Remove from oven and you will have created a well written, interesting and frequently un-put downable book that will entertain for a couple of weeks.

Heartily recommended to those looking for a good read in the techno-thriller genre

4 out of 5 stars Another great Brown Hero   March 3, 2006

Dale Brown has done it again! Another great book and a new hero to indulge in. BUT the big but is when are we going to see Patrick back again... supposidly in book 19 (according to skybird). The Edge of Battle is out at the end of may in the UK, the sequel to this book. Read both... Fantastic books!!!

5 out of 5 stars Wow!   June 5, 2005

Wow! Dan Brown does an awsome job of taking the reader inside the world of intelligence focused warefare. In this book he introduces a 32 year old Army Major Jason Richter, inventor/designer of a new breed of of weapons, futristic devices that can hunt down the terrorist with deadly impact! Brown masterful battle scenes and expertise in millitary manuavers is again the centerpiece but this time set against the current geopolitical landescape and the war on terror.

The action packed story begins when a small neuclear device is used to destroy a Texas oile refinery. It appears to be the work of Eco terrorist and Jason Richter is called in. From here the story takes off with non-stop action, and lets just say that Richter has a great take no prisoners attitude when it comes fighting the terrorists. This book is highly recommended! Also Check out "A Tourist in the Yucatan" for another cool Thriller!!!!
