Long overdue and a Must Have for all serious Bond Fans January 6, 2008 There are scores of books around about the James Bond movie series, however, this one is unusual in that - bar a few rare paragraphs - it focuses almost entirely on the books that inspired the movies. This is a long overdue concept and a fascinating read.
Definitive guide to Ian Fleming's Bond novels February 6, 2006 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
If you've ever ploughed your way through a Ian Fleming biography just to get to the part where he creates Bond - this is the book for you. Beautifully illustrated throughout, this volume gives a real taste of the era when Fleming was alive and creating the James Bond novels. Access to the Ian Fleming archive gives the book a lavish feel, and plots, characters and backgrounds to the stories are given in-depth but entertaining analysis. The 007 films have long cast a shadow over the original source material, which has always been wittier and more interesting in many ways. At last, Chancellor's book addresses the balance.
