Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
In 2nd Chance, a young girl is shot down on the steps of a San Francisco church, and Detective Lindsay Boxer decides that the time is right to reconvene the Women's Murder Club, the loosely-knit group that cracked a baffling mystery in James Patterson's earlier 1st to Die. Collaborating with assistant DA Jill Bernhardt, reporter Cindy Thomas and coroner Claire Washburn, Boxer is soon on the trail of a canny murderer who has the knack of making his trackers into his quarry. Boxer and the Women's Murder Club begin to believe that the killer might have been on the force, but his ultimate aims are unguessable--and the revelations in store shock them all.

Patterson is the maestro behind such winners as Cat and Mouse and Roses are Red, but his Alex Cross books are familiar territory for readers. His new team, however, are individually characterised with great skill, and though the short time we spend with each of them forces concision on the author--and his mysterious co-writer Andrew Gross's--part, the customary skills are all brought into play in this diverting mystery. It's always a gamble for an author who has established a highly successful series with one much-loved protagonist to inaugurate a new one with fresh characters but The Women's Murder Club has all kinds of possibilities and chances are will prove a formidable force. --Barry Forshaw

4 out of 5 stars A page turner!   April 1, 2008
Really enjoyed this, as I did the first in the series! I found this a typical page turner! The twist at the end was simple but very clever!
It is interesting to see the characters develope and grow.
Am now ready to start the 3rd in the series.

5 out of 5 stars I was totally gripped   March 4, 2008
Firstly id like to say i was never really a fan of James Patterson until i picked up 1st to die, i was totally hooked on it and i was dissapointed when i finished it because i wanted to know what happened to the girls next. Then i started reading 2nd Chance and again was gripped, the short chapters are great and easy to read, the trouble was i never wanted to stop reading! Usually in murder books i can figure out who the killer is, but i didnt have a clue on this one and enjoyed the little twist at the end.
Since reading this i have also read 3rd degree which again is just as good and had me gripped.

5 out of 5 stars Could not put it down, really sad to finish it!   November 12, 2007
This is the second book I've read written by James Patterson, the first being Jack and Jill, so I knew before starting it that it would be a great read and it didn't dissapoint!! I love the fact that the chapters are short, to the point and not drawn out because it makes reading the story easy and fun.

I loved the character of Lindsey, thought she was smart, decisive, and on the ball. I loved the women's club and the journey you went on with them. From happiness to heartbreak, four fiesty women, at the top of their games, doing what they believed in.

Bringing Lindsey's dad into the story was good, especially when she opened her heart to him, but its a shame the case turned out like it did, I was hoping he'd reappear in her life at the end, and well he kind of did in a way ;) (dont want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it!)

I had no idea who Chimera was until it was revealed and it was a good twist.

As I said, I was sad that this book come to an end, I wanted to know what happened to each of the women. I would definetely recommend reading this, I read 3/4 of it in 2 sittings over 2 nights. And I'm definetely going to read more of James Pattersons books, I like his style!

5 out of 5 stars Another Page Turner   May 7, 2007
After reading the first in this series I had my doubts as to wether I would find 2nd Chance as captivating. I did, again the plot kept me hooked from beginning to end with as many twists and turns. I would recommed this to anyone.

4 out of 5 stars Gripping   May 1, 2007
I certainly enjoyed the story line. It was believable and fast moving and easily kept me turning the pages.
I do have a slight problem with 'The Women's Murder Club' though. It just seems so girlie and childish...the kind of 'adventurous gang' that I was reading about before I was ten! The characters; Lindsay, Claire, Cindy and Jill are all good characters but they'd be more believable without the title 'Women's Murder Club'.

Lindsay's reunion with her dad was nicely done and woven into the story well. The ending was okay but I felt that maybe the 'pre-twist' ending would have tidied the story up well anyway..and maybe better.
Still worth four stars for a good page turner.
