1 out of 5 stars What a waste of time and money   May 4, 2008
I bought this book on the strength of recent Gerritsen novels.
From the beggining of the book I felt I was reading something from the hand of a lonley lovesick teenager. Cliched dribble from the boring start to the tiresome last pages. There should be laws against misrepresentation in the book world. Don't bother with this book.

1 out of 5 stars Soppy romance   March 21, 2008

I just couldn't believe I was reading Tess Gerritsen! I just finished the book, or rather turned the pages of the last chapters, as it is so predictable you don't have to read it. I will certainly read reviews here before picking up another book!

2 out of 5 stars It's not a crime thriller. It's a soppy romance.   February 2, 2008
On the lookout for a good crime thriller? You'd best steer clear of this one then; It's definitely no thriller.

It's actually a re-issue of 'The Thief of Hearts', one of Tess Gerritsen's old romance novels.

The publisher should be ashamed.

2 out of 5 stars Very disappointing   January 23, 2008
I bought Stolen before I realised it was a re-released romance.
I was expecting a gripping thriller in the same vein as The Surgeon and was very disappointed with the Mills and Boon style writing.

2 out of 5 stars It could have been worse ...   January 16, 2008
... however I can't quite see how! I realise that this is an early work by Ms Gerritsen, originally published in a different genre from what we have come to expect. But this does not excuse the publishers trying to cash in on her (now) good name.

The thing that annoys me most (apart from the weak, predictable plot) is the portrayal of all the British characters as if they came out of a Jeeves and Wooster novel. Despite being set in the mid 1990s they seem to live in that fictional inter-war period when the sun shone every day and people partied all night. Everyone is related to nobility and the hero doesn't have to work for a living other than "full time at being a gentleman".
