 Absolutely everything you wanted to know ever but thought no one knew. March 1, 2008
This is an amazing book for die hard Fleming fans. Being very familiar with the novels is a big help to get through it, but I marvel at the painstaking detail Mr Griswold has put into this tome. If Fleming ever becomes an exam text, this guide will be essentail to understand the times when it was written and other cultural references. Mis-prints may be better in the 2nd edition, but there are still a few. This isthe book I dreamed of being written but never thought would see the light of day. That along with 'Quantum of Solace' being used as a film title.

Please note that the number of misprints/mistitles were corrected in the 2nd edition which was released on June 27, 2006. The older edition which was printed in 2005 and had a black cover with gold lettering is out of print.
 A staggering work of research December 31, 2005
This is quite unlike any other book on Ian Fleming's creation that you are ever likely to read. It is difficult to comprehend the pains that Mr Griswold must have undergone to complete this stunningly comprehensive work.
Two minor criticisms only. Firstly the overwhelmingly comprehensive nature of the cross-referencing and annotations tends to lead to repetition. Secondly, why can't the publishers employ proof-readers? The number of misprints/mistitles is far too high for a monumental work such as this.One oddity. At the front of my copy it says printed in Indiana, United States of America. At the back it says printed in the United Kingdom. I wonder if they are all like that??
