5 out of 5 stars Thrills, spills and lots of fun   September 9, 2003

Most children have had a hamster which is part of the joy in reading about Frank's adventures; we can imagine our own furry creatures facing such dangers and winning through. The story is a thriller - Frank is up against the evil Mr Vince who is skinning hamsters for their fur and escape means having to plunge into the sewers that connect the houses of Bright Street. Observations of the humans made us laugh and the interaction of the different hamsters are often very funny as they squabble and argue about what to do. Against terrific odds Frank (motto Courage!)and his friends survive but their awesome adventure leads some of them to adopt new lives. Frank also learns more about himself - about his background but the mystery of the Black Hamster remains unsolved for another book. We can't wait!
