Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A tragic, gripping story of a crime that knows no lengths.   April 29, 2001

A young copywriter at Pym's Publicity Ltd. falls down the staircae and is fatally injured. Before his fall the young copywriter had notified his boss- by the means of a worrying, unfininished note- that something more dire than just a bad copy has infiltrated the ad agency. The owner hires detective Death Bredon, Wimsey in disguise, who poses as an adman taking over the dead man's job.As Bredon, Wimsey writes snappy headlines, banters with the typists and carouses with highborn lowlifes in his free time. All the while piecing together a web of nefarious criminals which have insured both the wicked and the weak. This spectacular novel has you on the edge of your seat throughout and the sky is filled with notions of who the killer is, why they did it, how they did it and what is to become of them. All this is mixed in with the thought of Lord Peter Wimsey being discovered as his true identity. As a conclusion to my review of one of the greatest pieces of literature the world has ever seen by the princess of crime herself, Dorothy L Sayers.I should like to say the pure intelligence of this marvellous crime fools even the great detective Lord Peter Wimsey...but only for a while!!!!!!
