The feel good book of the summer August 14, 2000 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is clearly a dangerous and subversive piece of literature for young career people. My first instincts were to put the book down, ask for early retirement and head out to the wonderfully world of of Chris Stewert in beautiful Andalusia.
Optimistic man sets up home in a derelict Spanish farm June 2, 2000 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is by far the best 'Brit leaves rat race to settle in foreign idyll' book of that genre - leaves Mayles Provencale tales in the shade. For anyone who has visited Andalucia it will be very evocative - yes - you can smell the lemons ! For anyone who has not been baked in that part of Spain then it will give you an itch to go!
A delight April 11, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a wonderful, evocotive book this is. A charming story of a young couple's attempt to live a new life in Spain running a farm. This tale is warm, funny, loving and leaves a nice warm glow. Highly recommended.
One of those books that you don't want to finish February 21, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I tried to read the book as slowly as possible and savour each word as I just didn't want to get to the end. Dragging the consciousness back into commuting across a grey London was hard going for a few days. Looking forward to the sequel.
a really great book February 18, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
this book is one of the most ammusing and interesting book i've read for ages. the writing style conjures up perfect images of the andalcian country side to eliviate the cold and rain of an english winter. a cracking read.
