As the proud owner of a kebab van, a couple of years ago I found myself struggling to keep up with the opposition and was forced to seek help. Although business gurus can come from pretty diverse backgrounds, Murphy's fighter-pilot past did not immediately strike me as a sound basis for financial acumen. Still, his book was rather less costly than Jeffrey Faldinger's more conventional manual of business strategies (based on the experience that he acquired during his time interrogating prisoners at Guantanamo Bay) and my razor-sharp business instincts guided me towards the cheaper option.

Anyhow, with the opposition growing stronger by the day, Murphy's advice was invaluable. "If you want to suceed in business", he says "treat your goddamn competitors as the enemy!"- sound advice indeed! "Set yourself targets and be sure to HIT those goddamn targets- at ANY cost!" Well, I hit my goddamn targets alright! Thanks to his teachings I was soon ready to exert my control over the market, leaving my competitors in the dust. Despite this success, I have certain misgivings. One of my employees was mortally wounded during the prescribed burst of 'friendly fire', courtesy of my wingman Terry (or 'Desert Argonaut'- as he is known in battle). I also feel a degree of regret over some of the air-to-surface missiles that were deployed- a proportion of which Murphy insists must be allowed to stray towards random buildings within a ten-mile radius of the target. The annihilation of the Mecca Bingo Hall was a most unfortunate accident, although I do take a little bit of guilty pleasure in having demolished the hideous 70s eyesore that was the town library (even if over a hundred people happened to be inside at the time). However, as Murphy says: "Business is WAR, and you cannot expect to win any goddamn battles without inflicting a colossal number of civilian casualties!".
