An excellent and readable work of reference June 6, 2001 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a work as important and useful as Pevsner's "Buildings of England" series. It is genuinely comprehensive and informative, but reads fluently and enjoyably. It is a key tool for all those interested in any part of the period. The paperback is fairly solidly bound, but I regret not having got the hardback.
