Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A story about a man who overcame incredible odds.   January 30, 2008
This is a truly uplifting and outstanding book. I highly recommend it.

This is the story of how one man despite being born with celebral palsy and having a speech impediment went from being told he was unemployable to becoming the top salesman in America in his company and then a sought after corporate speaker.

Despite being in incredible pain and getting up at 4.45am every morning just to dress himself he overcame the odds by applying incredible self belief and persistence to achieve his goal. If your in business in particular sales, read this and you will truly appreciate that you have no problems and no excuses whatsoever for not succeeding.

Do yourself a favour and read it. Even if you only want to read a nice heart warming tale of a man who should of stayed at home living on government handouts but instead used the law of averages to become a true winner and an inspiration.

The 'Ten lessons I learnt from Bill Porter' is a very uplifting book.Told by the author and best friend of Bill, she explains how he overcame a lot of difficulties in his life (born with Cerebal Pasly being one of them), his determination to succeed and not be dogged down with negative aspects of life and how his life influenced her own. The book is broken down to ten chapters, each chapter being a particular lesson she learnt from Bill.It is easy and well written(considering its her first), although she does repeat herself and goes over some of the information that she has already told you.I found some of the lessons(chapters)I could relate to very inspiring and positive(particularly 'the don't take no for an answer' and 'perserverance pay off'). Although I had never heard of Bill Porter or his story in the UK,his story has had a wide effect on the USA population, due to starring in a documentary about his life. The book ends with letters the author and Bill recieved after people saw the documentary and how much it has influenced their own lives. For me, this is one of the best parts of the book as it confirms just how any human being has a story to tell and can bring people together, teach and inspire them.
