Another Great Read from Terry Deary June 18, 2004 27 out of 29 found this review helpful
As great a character in the flesh as he comes across in his brilliant books, Terry Deary is a very down to earth person. I just wish history had been so excitingly written when I was at school! I might have learned something!
In this book even the 'French Revolution' is really humorous but...above all...it is interesting...... This book is a little more expensive than the norm, as it is a 'Special', but well worth every extra penny. Guaranteed not to be out down and just think of all those extra facts that have been picked up, with no effort, in this great read!
History with the nasty bits left in! History has never been so horrible! I'd recommend this series of books for any primary age group.
Good Olde France October 20, 2002 7 out of 21 found this review helpful
I think this book is great because it tells you a lot about the French that most people don't know. Who invented the guillotine? Where was Joan of Arc born? Which king thought he was made of glass; Why French bread was once made from broken tiles and bricks; How to play hopscotch like a highway man... and much more!
