5 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and meaningful   April 21, 2008

This is a lovely book which my 2 year old daughter really enjoys especially filling in the 'thats a ....' on each page. The simple repetative text and colourful pictures also makes the book suitable for my 11 month old. I also think this story has a lovely idea that although people may not look like their parents they are still a family. A lovely lesson in diversity.

5 out of 5 stars This is such a good book   December 12, 2007

I first heard this story when my friend read it to her Son over and over again whilst we were on holiday together. I actually enjoyed listening to the story(LOL) and I never got bored of hearing it. The book is great and it rhymes really well. I have now bought this book for my son and I am sure he will love it. EDITED - I have now started reading this book to my Son and he does love it!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant for younger children   December 7, 2007

My two boys aged 2 1/2 absolutely adore this book. They are slowly learning it by heart! The rimes are perfect and the book is not too long so that young children don't loose interest. This books goes over the names of different animals and parts of their bodies - fantastic!

1 out of 5 stars Monkey Puzzle or just BAD DREAMS!   November 10, 2007

I can only agree with the previous reviews - except - my son don't!!!! He loves all the other stories by the same author and illustrator but this one - i think it is something to do with the first line ' i have lost my mummy'. Since reading this story the first time and not linking the bad dreams to the book but to a house move i read it again recently to him and what a month of sleep deprevation we have all had! if your child is at all sensitive or thinks beyond the obvious read with care. As for me - i love it! all the best.

5 out of 5 stars Agree with everyone else   August 18, 2007

This book is great. My little one is nearly 15 months and already loves the book so much he fills in the names of some of the animals as we read it ("No no no, that's a .. "). Plenty of opportunities for animal noises and actions making it great fun to read.

We also love the Gruffalo (a bedtime classic), and A Squash & A Squeeze - by the same authors. The formula in all thier books of rhyming + repetition is spot on, and I can see why toddlers are captivated by their books.
