Hilarious romp! August 11, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Glad this film has finally arrived on DVD. Malcolm McDowell is excellent as Harry Flashman and the rest of the cast is star-studded. Bob Hoskins, Alastair Sim and David Jason have small roles but Alan Bates and Oliver Reed have larger parts to play in a conspiracy plot.
Includes the classic line from McDowell: 'Never hit a man when he's down - he may get up!'
ONE OF THE GREAT LOST 1970's BRITISH FILMS May 21, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
THIS FILM WAS OVERLOOKED ON RELEASE BUT IS A GEM. A FABULOUS CAST FROM THE STARS LIKE ALAN BATES AND MALCOLM MCDOWELL, OLIVER REED AND JOSS ACKLAND, BRITT EKLAND AND HENRY COOPER, MICHAEL HORDERN AND LIONEL JEFFRIES, TO THE CAMEOS FROM DAVID JASON AND BOB HOSKINS IN THEIR EARLIEST ROLES. DIRECTED BY RICHARD LESTER AT THE PEAK OF HIS POWERS. IT'S A ROMP, A HISTORY LESSON AND A BLOOMIN' GOOD FILM.
