Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
It's hard not to feel like one has entered a certain dimension of video-game logic while watching Hitman, a lightly enjoyable action-suspense movie indeed based on a popular and bloody game about a mysterious hired gun with a bar-code tattoo on his bald head and a number (47) in lieu of a name. Living like a chaste monk while slipping past borders to kill his targets, 47 (Timothy Olyphant of Deadwood) moves like a determined shark and speaks softly to his contact at the enigmatic "the Organization," which raises cast-off children to become well-paid assassins. Fruitlessly pursued by an Interpol cop (Dougray Scott) who can never get sovereign governments to cooperate, 47 has no trouble slipping in and out of countries to ply his trade. Until, that is, he's set up to take a fall in Russia by shooting a national leader who is promptly replaced by a lookalike double. Suddenly on the run, 47 has to retrace his steps and formulate a lethal plan for extricating himself from a trap. Caught in the chaos is the lovely Nika (Olga Kurylenko), forced into sex slavery by 47's new enemies and the one person who seems uniquely qualified to break through 47's many personal barriers.

Directed by France's Xavier Gens, Hitman features loads of bloody mayhem and unabashed moments of pulp absurdity, such as a scene in which 47 and three other Organization killers agree to fight one another respectfully, then proceed to pulverize each other with swords and fists. As fodder for gamers, however, Hitman is packed with visuals and dramatic moments that seem so odd on the big screen until one realizes they are basically placemarkers for the video-game edition. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT FILM!!!   July 24, 2008
What an excellent film,my other half got it and i was very sceptical as its really not my kind of thing but i loved it!
Brilliant acting and agent 47 is so stylish and a true gent to the lovely russian girl.
The plot is very easy to follow and the fight scense wicked! I think all will be pleased with this one,I will certainly watch it again and again.

4 out of 5 stars Better than the hype, plenty to enjoy here   July 18, 2008
This film delivers most of the goods you might want. It isn't some great classic, but it is entertaining and the violence is good. Plus, there's no shortage of it. It is very silly, but no less enjoyable for that. I would say give it a chance.

4 out of 5 stars Game to film....it worked this time   June 22, 2008
Ok, so the game to film thing hasn't got the best track record. 'Doom' ring any bells?

But, they really pulled it off with this one.
From the off there is action. Guns, knives, fists all this coupled with a sort of 'Bourne Identity' highly trained "I notice everything" attitude. This makes for a very entertaining watch.

Aside from the fighting and such the film has a surprisingly good yet easy to follow film. We even see a little emotion from the cold hearted assassin.

Fast paced, action packed and easy to watch, this film is a must. Get rid of the wife/girlfriend/roommate (delete as necessary) and kick back with a beer wishing you were Agent 47.

Thoroughly enjoyable.

2 out of 5 stars don't complain but not much enjoyable   June 19, 2008
watched this film with a bit of expectation as it had lots of stars from other viewers. yes probably enjoyable for those who love to see fluffy action scenes but was not for me. just plain and boring. I will give 2 stars, but up to 3 stars if you are a fan of action movie with no story line.

3 out of 5 stars entertaining   June 16, 2008
this was certainly a gripping, exciting film. It was graphic, violent and loud, in fact any male would probably love it. I liked it and the way it was represented but found it hard to understand and probably missed the concept altogether, but then again i have not played the enormously popular game that goes with it.
