Amazon.co.uk Review It was always going to be a challenge to move a show whose premise effectively fitted comfortably inside a single series to a third season. And so perhaps inevitably, Prison Break moves the action back to the slammer, this time in Panama. It proves to be a wise choice, as, while plausibility has long since been thrown out of the window, it's a more natural setting for the show. Prison Break still follows brothers Lincoln and Michael Burrows, but this time there's a far tougher prison that needs to be broken out of. It's a little less claustrophobic than the last one, but more dangerous. And along with the usual terrific supporting cast of characters, the tension, twists and violence that underpin the show are all very much present and correct. Powering Prison Break forwards, of course, is the pin-up star Wentworth Miller, who owns his role as Michael, and grounds many of the show's extremities. And while it's a shorter season than the first two, this third run still manages to cram in some strong entertainment. Perhaps season three isn't Prison Break's finest hour, and perhaps the concept has diluted somewhat since the show first began. But this is still really good, assured entertainment, that knows what it wants to do and simply gets on with it. For that alone, it remains a show hard to resist. --Jon Foster

Still great......... April 22, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Firstly, I love the format of Prison break - the way you never know where its going to go and what can happen next. Thats the beauty of the whole show. The fact that the story takes you to a Panama Prison is awesome. The fact that this seaon is shorter is a bit of a pain, but they still managed to give a full rounded feel to the season, without feeling like anything had been missed. It makes me laugh that some mark it dowmn for that, as everybody in the world new about the wirters strike, and there was NOTHING the creators could do about that. They made the best of it and it worked. Some say its too much like the first season. Well if you watch a show called 'Prison Break' its pretty bloody obvious that it will revolve around a prison and an escape. If thats not what you want to watch, my watch a show of that name!?!?!?! What did you expect? I think it was good, with a winning format and they did well considering the strike. Im looking forward to the next season..........
Still no season 1! April 16, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Well firstly this is not a season! Its half the usual due to the writers strike.... this made me feal like with other series a bit cheated as they are either giving you a very short taste or just rushing the plot through when they usually have much more room to play with!
Saying that Season 3 starts off with alot of hope! Micheal ends up in Sona which is made out to be a nutty prison full of death and no rules! However it does end up looking LESS terifying than Fox River by the end of the season as alot of the prisons occupants seem less and less of a threat!
Essentially Prison Break should not have lasted any longer than season 2 (this is not just an opinion but a fact from the cast, crew and writers)!
It certainly is a step up from season 2 but it trys to hard to capture the reasons why we all liked season 1!
I just hope they can do better with season 1 but where they left it, I cant see how....
ok, so its ok..... April 14, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
yes, we all wish they'd more episodes, yes it could be better, yes they've tried to copy S1 a tad too much....
BUT - give em a chance, i'd personally disagree with a couple of reviews here, i actually really enjoyed S2 and S3 is a decent time filler if your bored, there is the same old suspence, drama etc. besides if a band made a bad album you wouldnt say "they should give up, never write again" you'd say, that sucked, hope the next ones better, so give em a chance with S4 to make ammends with a full compliment of non-striking writers, because to be fair, there's nothing else on TV with such rich, fleshed out characters in my humble opinion.....
Still worth watching, but not as good as the first two April 9, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I agree with the other reviews that its a shame there were only the 13 episodes, I think they had to rush to plot somewhat to compensate and its a bit empty because of that. Still entertaining but seems a little like a Panamanian copy of Season 1.
From bad to worse April 7, 2008 12 out of 31 found this review helpful
I'll try to keep it brief to not give too much away
Firstly, Prison Break should have been a show that ended after season1, with them in panama, happy ending.
But it didnt. As a result, all this writer's strike stuff has greatly affected the show. Season 3 is only 12 episodes long, and to be honest, it's just a poor copy of the season1, with the exact same plot problems. Outsiders/securing the money/getting people in on the escape.... After a while you just get bored of the same scenario, the same characters arguing about the same thing.
Secondly, somehow all the survivors of season1 have been all put in the same prison in season 3 ... wow what coincidence! (i'll try not to spoil ... let's just say they pretty much act in the exact same way as season1 the "oh i hate michael, but he's gonna get me out so im gonna do what he says then backstab him")
Thirdly, it was almost hilarious how they dealt with the character 'Sarah Tancredi' . Without giving too much away: let me just say it was laughable, completely ridiculous. And after that, i knew the show had died.
Finally, it's such a shame to see how such a great show has become so boring and unimaginative. The only reason why this avoids 1 star, is because of the FIB character and his side story. Other than that, to sum up: Season1: a bit of delaying, but still amazing Season2: lacked any aim or plot, created a false sense of ending for the series like season1, when we knew the show wasnt going to end. Season3: a poor, almost desperate copy of season 1... supported by a very weak overall plot. Very little sense of suspense.
I definitely wouldnt pay money to see this season.
