5 out of 5 stars 5 star for sure   April 9, 2008
There's no question about it - this is a quality book, and I'm not only talking about John Steinbeck's amazing writing talent, I'm talking about the GCSE help inside it. I made me really understand the book as well as enjoy it massively.

Just buy it, and it's good value as always on Amazon!

4 out of 5 stars Love the book, but...   September 30, 2007

I love 'Of Mice and Men' and have just finished reading it for school, in this edition. However the notes at the beginning of each chapter tell you what's going to happen! This completely spoilt the ending for me.

I would recommend reading an ordinary version first, to preserve suprise. However the notes are useful for study and revision.

5 out of 5 stars A literature classic!   December 5, 2006

This is a classic piece of English 20th Century Literature, albeit written by an American. Steinbeck is a prolific writer as shown when awarded with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962. Of Mice and Men is set in the period between the two world wars and is grippingly realistic. It tells the story of the most unusual and strange friendship between a small, intellectual man (George) and a huge oaf of a man with the mind of a small child. It tells their tale of working in ranches on California, desiring the "American Dream" - a small plot of land to call their own and to live on. This book, however, is not for everyone. Anyone with an interest in classic literature, 20th Century History or Steinbeck's work should read this now.

i think that this book is brilliant. the characters are not as you would expect them to be, i think the best were George and Lennie i don't know how George put up with lennie all those years. moving from ranch to ranch becausce Lennie does something wrong.
