4 out of 5 stars Overall a good read   May 17, 2008

This book is the story of two childhood friends, Alison and Catherine, and how their relationship changed when Alison ran away from home with Catherine's boyfriend. Years later she returns to her home town to find Catherine still living there, married to the boy Alison was infatuated with back in high school. It sounds fairly complicated, but is a good tale of the reunion of two friends and whether the past can really be forgotten.

As the title suggests, the women feel they may be living the wrong lives: what if Catherine had stayed with her boyfriend and Alison had managed to snare her crush, would their lives be as complicated?

This book takes you on an emotional journey as the women deal with the break down of relationships, how to handle their children and their reunion after so long. Will it be possible to let bygones be bygones, or is there just too much water under the bridge after so long?

This novel is a little predicatable, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. If you like a bit of a fairytale romance then you will really anjoy this. It has a very engaging and original plotline that will draw you in and make you want to read it all in one sitting.

The book was very well written and thoroughly enjoyable. It reels you in at the very beginning and becomes unbearable if you can't finish it in one sitting. The plot line at first seems a little childish and trivial, but picks up in the middle. A book for chick lit lovers, and definitely one for Rowan Coleman fans.
