5 out of 5 stars If you just interested in losing lots of weight fast this book is perfect.   December 18, 2007

If you just interested in losing lots of weight fast stick to the induction phase only, your looking at 4 or 5 pounds a week. A month of hardcore induction Atkins (which isn't difficult after just expensive) and your looking a good stone and a half.

The entire thing could be stripped down to a fifth by removing all of the drama (real life stories) and the final three steps of the diet. This book need to lose weight. Needless to say it works.

This book is a main component to my happiness and I highly recommend it if you feel like your overweight.

5 out of 5 stars This is the number one diet   April 1, 2006

I am sorry, but as a dieter of over 25 years, this booksays it all. Basically, all diets work. Why? Because they focus on keeping the insulin levels down. The Atkins is no different. However, unlike othe diets I have tried, Atkins doesn't count calories, and this has to be a good thing. I have weighed and counted calories for years. Can you imagine eating all you want, providing that it does not include carbs? It does work. I lost a stone in three weeks and was really difined. It is claimed to be the number one diet. All I say is, once you have achieved your target weight, you eat sensibly, introduce green leafy veg, and don't go back to eating sugary, starchy carbs.

5 out of 5 stars Well I was on of the sceptics but...........................   March 25, 2006

I have to confess something. A friend of mine was raving about the Atkins diet and she has lost a lot of weight. It didn't make HEALTHY sense to me. About five years ago I went through an addiction to working out and I was able to lose A LOT of weight, maybe the fact that I was in the gym everyday caused me to eat less as well. However, I noticed the weight creeping on again and no matter how hard I tried to lose the 12lbs that I gained I could not shift it. Low calorie diets failed because I was always hungry and all the other ones seemed so complicated with the points and grams etc etc .

So................................

I decided to buy the Atkins book. I have finished my 14 day induction today and have just weighed myself. I have lost 7lbs in 14 days. Admittedly I know a lot of it is water but what a motivator to keep me going. The best thing about the Atkins is there is NO HUNGER, NONE, NO STOMACH CRAMPS, NO DIZZY SPELLS, NO CRAVING SOMETHING SWEET, NO THROWING CAUTION TO THE WIND AND RUNNING OUT TO BUY A CHOCOLATE BAR.

I have to seriously consider incorporating this into my lifestyle.

4 out of 5 stars An necessary read for doing Atkins.   September 28, 2005

This book is a very convincing one, in that it is written by a doctor of medicine. This makes allot of what Dr. Atkins says as very plausable. It stresses the implications of a diet high in carbohydrates to human health. According to him,the main problem of poor diet is that most carbohydrates, particularly refined ones are digestable. It is the digestion of refined carbs which is the primary culprit to obesety, and the health problems derived from this.

Contrary to all the rumours, hearsay, and misinformation Dr. Atkins stresses that his variation of a low carb diet is a one that benefits good, and long term health. Therefore, in order to accomplish doing Atkins sucessfully, it is a very good idea to read this book, as opposed to adhering to the rumours etc.

Though he is making lots of profit from it, and at times makes for tedious, reading, due to all the medical terminology used throughout it, the book is nonetheless very informative, if not enlightening. For these reasons I recommend this book.

OK first thing first, DIETS DONT WORK
especially this one, ok so its not a diet, its a permament lifestyle change which is reason one why you should not do it,
IT IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BODY,
yes you see immediate results but it messes up your insides so much it can become irreversable!
IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT, HERES WHAT TO DO
1: EAT HEALTHY
2: TAKE GENTLE EXERCISE
3: RELAX
thats it, free of charge too!
use atkins at your peril, just think of this
would you like to be slim and healthy OR
would you like to be thinner with digestion and heart problems?
atkins will damage your body and your bank account,
the only people doing well off this book are the publishers!
