This book could only be recommended as a lesson in how not to write a work on history. It is highly tainted by prejudice and ignorance, the writer's own delusions of cultural 'superiority', deliberately selective in evidence in some places while pure fraudulent in others, and provides no context whatsoever to Scottish history, nationality or the conditions in Scotland surrounding his subject matter. The title itself should have provided me with enough of a warning signal, but i thought at least there would be something credible to back up his pre-decided outcome. It was a let down and a poor piece of 'work' (i doubt much actual work went into it).
