5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fabulous   July 4, 2008
This is one great book you can either get one for yourself or it makes a really unusual gift. Even if you never use it as a cookbook, it is a wonderful talking point.

5 out of 5 stars Old Fashioned Cooking At It's Best   March 1, 2008

This book is a wonderful example of a traditional cookbook, one that looks like its been lying around for decades. It's been made to look like the original cookbook the recipes came from tattered up and stains and all, and really makes the book appealing even before you get to the wonderful hand written style recipes inside.

The book is very well laid out, and covers all the great dishes we have come to expect from good old fashioned Scottish cooking. All the recipes are great a true family cookbook if there ever was one. It is a great Idea this book, and it is sure to become unique in its own right, and for a great price, it's highly recommended. It will provide you with endless recipe ideas.

I just love this book, the recipes are sooo easy and every one knows them. No posh nosh here! I have tried the lorne sausage (its brill) and have made skirlie(A'body loved it!) The small writings on each page from the bairns, hen and the twins are hilarious, usually ripping the p out of daphne! This book sits proudly on my shelf above my cooker. Its got everything a young housewife would need to start cooking basic family meals. I think this book would be a great wedding present to any young couple.

Bought my wife this at Christmas and she loves it, even though she isn't the Broons fan that I am. Highly recommended if you like your cookbooks to have more than a wee bit of character!

5 out of 5 stars Cures the homesickness   January 11, 2008

I returned from my honeymoon in the Philippines back to my place of business in Korea last week. I discovered a christmas gift mailed from my father on my table. THE book!

Wow, I have been using it each day, discovered I can actually cook, and my new wife actually likes Scottish food. One great advantage of it is that because it is written in Glaswegian, she can't understand it! Leaving all the cooking to me! Wonderful!!
