4 out of 5 stars Best book on the subject   July 13, 2004

Having been diagnosed over a year ago, I have an impressive collection of books on endometriosis. This is by far the best. It tells you everything you need to know, and doesn't spend too much time on the sympathising and 'oh what a terrible disease' style of other books on the subject. After all, you know all that stuff.
I got this book just before I started new treatment, and it allowed me to go to my consultant and make informed decisions about my drugs and procedures. Definitely empowering.
I can't recommend this enough. Buy it today!

5 out of 5 stars Worth ever penny   February 27, 2003

I bought this book after recently being diagnosed with endometriosis and wanting to know what exactely is happening inside me. This book explains the illness clearly and in precise detail but without confusion. I read it before my next appointment with my consultant and knew precisely what he was talking about. I was confident to ask questions about the illness too. It is a must for every sufferer of Endo but also I would recommend their partners to read it too.

3 out of 5 stars Endometriosis - an academic view   July 20, 2002

I have found this book to be very academic and detailed. There is a lot of detail and information included. Much of it was not useful to me and there was a lot of information that it did not contain. However, it is very honest and straight forward. May be depressing but it does help face reality and makes straight forward suggestions. Would recommend this book be used as a reference after reading other books on Endometriosis

5 out of 5 stars Informative, concise, readable, knowledgeable book.   October 31, 2000

I found this book incredibly informative - one of the few that gets the balance right between giving you detailed technical information, with helpful, practical suggestions for coping. It is also up to date and covers a vast amount of information, ranging from pain control, medication, fertility and many other subjects. It is helpfully punctuated with case studies from women who have experienced issues first-hand.

Especially useful for people here in the UK, who do not seem to have as much access to info as those in the States.

5 out of 5 stars A patient-centred approach that empowers women.   October 4, 2000

This book gave me information and empowerment that allowed me to make my own decisions regarding this incurable disease. It has no known cause and no cure, and robs many women of the ability to have children. In my case, the debilitating pain made me finally seek help. I have lent it to my doctor, and she now uses it with all the doctors she trains. It gave me back ideas, choices and in the end, myself. I have bought it for many friends, especially in Europe where there is less information, and it has made a real difference for us.
