A stand alone spin off of SATC June 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In all honesty I bought this book after reading a newspaper article about the TV show Sex and the City where this book was quoted from. I really enjoyed the SATC episode that coined the phrase "He's just not that into you" and wanted to see what else the writer had to say on the subject.
I have read some of the reviews and I agree with some of the people that state this is not the "Bible" on relationships and does not really cover those more serious and involved relationships, but's it not a one star book. It does exactly what it says on the tin. It gives a wide variety of the scenarios where a woman should really know better and cut her losses and get on with her life.
I found this book made me laugh at both the men in the scenarios and myself when I realised that I had been in several of the same situations before. I was single when I read this so I wasn't really using this a self help book or a guide to getting out of a bad relationship, however if there's one thing every woman should take from it - If he doesn't call you back, it's not personal, it's not the end of the world, he's just not that into you. If you think about, if you were compatible with every one in the world life would be a very dull place...
It's the self help book for those women who are not looking for a self help book. Even if you take nothing from it - it has some amusing parts to it and is written in a very comical style.
Hmm... mixed feelings June 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My friend lent me a copy of this book - she thought I needed it because I was contemplating asking a guy out. I wasn't convinced.
And I'm still not. Although a lot of what the book has to say about "not that into you" clues early on in a relationship is fairly reasonable, I think it's pretty rubbish once you get further down the path. For instance, the example where a woman is happily settled with a guy who previously got messily divorced but is reluctant to get married again... Greg all but suggests she dump him. Uh, no! I got angrier and angrier as I got further and further in to the book. The one-size-fits-all approach really isn't appropriate in the real world.
Regardless, I'm going to go and ask that guy out. Greg has annoyed me to the point where I'm going to do it just because I can!
Oh, and the friend that lent it to me? Very, very single...
Found Mr. Right! April 9, 2008 25 out of 27 found this review helpful
This book is a must read for all women because it is a time saver! No need to waste precious time on someone who isn't into me. With great humor, this book gives me insight that men are clear with their actions. If someone isn't into me, I no longer have to take it personally.
As Greg & Liz's book has helped me confirm that I'm currently with a wonderful man who is really into me, Ariel & Shya Kane's book "How To Create a Magical Relationship" is helping me maintain a loving and lasting relationship. I suggest reading this book as well if you're interested in finding Mr. Right.
I love this book February 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A friend of mine gave me this book to read when I was having problems understand why my boyfriend was doing the things he was. It was an eye opener for me and I love it!! I would recommend that every girl have a copy of this!!!
Eye-opening, an absolute must for any single girl on the dating scene January 11, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
OH MY WORD.. girls if you never buy another book in your life... make sure this is the one that you do. As a single girl on the dating scene I have to say that this book totally opened my eyes to the way guys work. To the girl who wrote the negative review on here... wake up and smell the bullsh*t, you're kidding yourself... these excuses that guys come out with are just that.. EXCUSES, all they are really saying is 'I'm just not that into you' but simply don't have the guts to say it to your face. I have saved myself so much heartache and saved myself so much time waiting by my phone just by reading this book. If a guy doesn't ring you within 3 days of a date, put him out of your mind and move on. If he says 'i've been really busy at work'... move on. These are the kind of excuses that the book addresses, and anyone who contradicts what Greg Behrendt has to say is essentially one of the poor girls who is victim to the rubbish that come's out of guys mouths. A fantastic, amusing read and totally totally liberating!
