My toddler prefers other sing along books May 6, 2008 My 17 month old little boy has this, along with other sing along books, he's never taken to this one. He much prefers "the wheels on the bus", I'm not sure if it's because this book isn't very colourful. I have to say I was pretty disappointed with it when it arrived.
Better as a song than a book April 27, 2008 This is a great song for children but doesn't really work as a book. The words are crammed in so is difficult to read and very repetetive. My daughter loves all books but after two pages of this, she is ready to move on to something different.
I'd buy a CD of nursery rhymes for this song rather than buy the book.
Ingenious March 21, 2008 We all know the song, but who can remember all the verses? I can! Well, not really, but with the help of this book as each new character in the tale comes into view, the words from the previous characters are all there on the opposite page viewed through the old lady's stomach. Fabulous. Very creative and great for a bedtime/anytime reader/song.
Beautifully illustrated book! November 24, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is beautifully and colourfully illustrated and it is sure to capture your little one's attention. The song of course is catchy too and you will be singing it all day long.
Only problem was, my 2 year old nephew recently discovered what death meant (dead bird on the porch) and was rather traumatized by the repetition of "perhaps she'll die", thinking that perhaps he might swallow a fly and die. My niece's teacher has changed the words in class to perhaps she'll "cry".
If it weren't for the above problem, this book would be a definate 5 star, but if it's not a problem for your child, don't miss this book!
Disappointing September 9, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Found this to be a disappointing version & the one with the cd is a HUGE let down as it's sung sooooo quickly it's impossible to keep up with! Really wanted to use it with my class of 5 year olds. No worries about the "death" issues - hey, if you eat a whole horse what do you expect?!
