5 out of 5 stars Naughty - but nice.   August 10, 2007

This is one of those books which you open not quite knowing what to expect. You can't help but read on when you do!

This profinisaurus is set out in a great way. It is intelligent set out, and the content is childishly fab.

You can pick this book up to kill a few spare moments and put it down for later. I love randomly looking at the terms and explanations given, it never fails to make me titter. Some are familiar terms we know and love, and some are obscure and quite genius. This is toilet humour - but toilet humour a it's best.

This makes a great stocking filler for someone who appreciates a bit of rudeness and comedy.

Anyway - gotta go now, I've got a "Bobby Charlton" I need to sort out.

;o)

5 out of 5 stars Excellent   October 12, 2005

It was with great pride that I finally managed to slip the phrase "half rice half chips" in a conversation the other day. Something I had been waiting to do for about a year (obviously it has to be in the correct contex and I lead a fairly sheltered life!). The sense of achievement was huge. One down - hundreds more to go. Its an endless but hugely enjoyable challenge. A great book.

This could be, culturally, the most important book of the century. Not only is it essential for all who love (and live by) the diverse beauty of the English language, but it gracelessly transcends cultural boundaries and allows people of all nations to wallow, giggling, in the dark fetid recesses of their minds. That Norwegians know the word "mapatasi"; that the burghers of Rockford, Illinois, speak of "beef curtains"; that people in the Vatican advocate "getting off at Edge Hill" - this communion of sordid spirits could save the world! MAKE INNUENDOES, NOT WAR!

You HAVE to own this book. Never mind any other work of reference, especially the rather derivative Roget's Thesaurus (I think VIZ should sue for plagiarism), without this tome one is oblivious to thousands of funny comments made. Astound your friends, and offend your enemies, use these terms with care and attention - your life will be all the richer for it. I haven't laughed so much in years...

5 out of 5 stars AMAZING!!   December 7, 2003

If you're going to take what any review says at face value, make it this one! Rodger's Profanisaurus is without doubt one of the funniest books around. Unlike your average dictionary, you can actually read this one and get lost in it for hours! I highly recommend this book to anyone with a sense of humour, everyone I've shown it to has loved it! You can also customise your copy with your own selection of funny profanities ;-).
A must have!
