French revision made easier! May 23, 2003 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
It's great to see another revision guide for languages, as not all that many seem to exist and it is often said that you can't revise for languages. This is an excellent book presented in a friendly and accesible way that disproves that theory! The first chapter contains 12 topics taken from the AS/A level specifications. With each topic comes a list of essential vocabulary, specimen sentences and specimen paragraphs. There is also a helpful section on words which are often confused or mispelt. Then there are two chapters giving you everything you could possibly want to know on grammar. The fourth chapter deals with your preparation for the oral exam, giving model answers to the examiner's questions. The final chapter deals with specific topics, for example The Occupation of France 1940-44 that you may be expected to write an essay on in the final exam (A-level). It also gives tips on how to revise a literary text along with more useful vocabulary. This is a very thorough guide to AS/A level French and yet not at all intimidating. I would definitely recommend it.
