1 out of 5 stars Misleading   August 9, 2008

I bought this book due to there not being many practice questions available elsewhere for the UKCAT. However, this book contains several mistakes, some of which have been corrected by pieces of paper placed into the book on the appropriate pages. Some mistakes remain, including graph lines labelled the wrong way round etc. (making these questions impossible to complete).

The quantitative reasoning section gives an unrealistic idea of the difficulty of the actual test. The abstract reasoning section was somewhat useful, but there were not enough questions in the section to justify buying the book.

If I had not bought this book, I would have felt guilty for not preparing as much as possible for the UKCAT. However, I feel I would have scored the same on the actual test.

I found Passing the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) and BMAT 2008 (Student Guides to University Entrance) (Student Guides to University Entrance) more useful, although there were fewer questions.

For the abstract reasoning section Practice Tests for Diagrammatic and Abstract Reasoning (Succeed at Psychometric Testing) is worth a look at. Not all of the questions are in UKCAT format, but it helps you to develop skills you can apply to the UKCAT.

4 out of 5 stars Best way to prepare for the UKCAT   July 15, 2008

Even though there's no actual way to revise for the UKCAT, the practical examples in this book give you a great idea about what to expect from the exam. Having full practice questions (which you don't get in most books like this) makes you feel a lot more confident about taking the exam and everything's well enough explained to let you understand the questions much better. I'm glad I bought it, now I've just got to get through the exam!

5 out of 5 stars Really Helpful Book   July 1, 2008

I found this book really helpful and what I especially liked was the fact that it had loads more practice questions than the other book I have bought. Being able to do a full test whilst being timed was also really helpful and having the answers fully explained meant I leanr't alot quicker. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to do well in their UKCAT.
