1 out of 5 stars NOT THAT IMPRESSED   July 17, 2006

I didn't think this book was very credible, especially when Derek claimed to see the spirit of Mary Queen of Scots - too convenient! I haven't seen any of his TV programmes but if I was a complete sceptic this wouldn't convince me. I'd love to have a reading with Derek to see if he really does have these powers.

5 out of 5 stars enlightening and entertaining   September 17, 2005

I'm a fan of 'Most Haunted'and have always been a bit curious about Derek Acorah's part in it, when he is often taken over by spirits etc, and talking to Sam. I wondered if he was just a failed footballer looking for another way to make his name and money. Having read this book, I am now a big fan of his! He explains his first encounter of seeing a spirit, and how he grew up with this gift. He tells some facinating stories of spirit encounters and how he is affected, and also tells you all about his relationship with Sam, who is his spirit guide. He tells a really funny story about how he gets pestered by spirits when trying to take time out from his work. I would recommend this book to believers and sceptics, and I bet even the sceptics would struggle not believe in the spirit world, even just a bit!!

this is a must for any sceptic out there, the book is an easy read and hard to put down .
well worth purchasing and gives you an insight into how derek has travelled up and down the country even when he himself had doubts.
throughoughly enjoyable to read, simple short recollections of his past and who knows what the future brings.

I have always been a fan of poking fun of the so-called mediumistic abilities, so when a friend recommended to me I read this book I poo-pooed the idea straight away. Having seen the elusive mr Acorah on the most haunted programmes I was intrigued to read that he had once been a pro-footballer and his life had been pretty normal up to a certain point in time. To be honest the narrative of the book was so compelling and down to earth (not intended as a pun!!) that I the sceptic could not put it down. Having opened my mind suitably Derek Acorah's simple story telling and recollections are a must for believers, fans and sceptics alike-a must read for the enlightened!! I've even gone so far as to pre order the new book and buy the first-long live Derek Acorah

After reading Dereks first book I waited with baited breath for his next book THE PSYCHIC ADVENTURES OF DEREK ACORAH.What can I say the man does it again.A little slow at the start but as the book continues to unrole Dereks Adventures you can not put it down for a second. After meeting Derek in person I can see why his books are such a big hit. I wait and watch for his next publication.
