1 out of 5 stars How to raise your self-esteem   May 30, 2008

I did not find this book helpful at all.
The book does not contain "an approach / technique" to raising your self-esteem. It is purely about case studies. Listening to people's stories does not help raise self-esteem. There are better books on self-esteem. I would not recommend this book.

1 out of 5 stars Self Esteem still not right....   March 1, 2007

As far as I'm concerned the guy who wrote this thinks that your self esteem must be low because either:

1. Your parents didn't love you enough as a child, or
2. You were abused as a child.

It then tells you to get in touch with your "child self" and have a chat to him about how bad you feel. Exercises include finishing sentences such as, "When I was a child I...", and end with, "I am now beginning to feel...."

If this sounds like your cup of tea, go for it. I myself couldn't recommend it any less if all the pages were completely blank. No help whatsoever.

5 out of 5 stars Stands out from the crowd   August 2, 2006

I have only read half of this book but already have no hesitation in recommending it. It stands out from the crowd. The author is writing from his experiences as a psychotherapist - and by all accounts he must have been quite successful. There are exercises to perform which are not too demanding but give you a good insight into your relationships, success at work and areas to improve on. I've already highlighted areas to concentrate on and feel very positive. We need more books like this - by professionals with real experience who know what they are talking about.

5 out of 5 stars The most useful book I have read   July 5, 2005

What I think this book does that no other book I have read does, is commits you to change. The exercises are based around sentence completion, you complete the sentences without censoring yourself and you get so much insight that change is easy.
If you want to know how you really are, how you really behave, if you want to see what others see when they look at you, read this book!!
