Did you know Amazon is a record holder?

We currently hold the record for the largest online bookshop.

Amazon.com, founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos (USA), opened its virtual doors in July 1995 and now has more than 69 million active customer accounts from customers worldwide. During Holiday 2006, the company shipped products to more than 200 countries, and its catalogue of more than 40 millions products makes it the largest online shop in the world.

As of July 2007, Amazon's fulfillment centers around the world encompassed more than 12 million square feet. The company boasts over 14,400 staff.

As of midnight, July 20, 2007 Amazon.com received more than 2.2 million pre-orders of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" on its websites worldwide, making it Amazon's single largest new product release in history.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.....................!!!!!   January 18, 2008
Thank god for Amazon..................My daughter was desperate for this book but the whole of Essex seem to have sold out!!!

She love's the book, a fantastic buy, has kept her amused for hour's. She also likes making me squirm by showing me some of the gross pictures!!!!

1 out of 5 stars No no no   January 2, 2008
This will be looked at on Christmas Day (or my birthday in my case) then put on the shelf and never looked at again. For goodness, who looks for any longer than 2 mins at who ate the most cheese toasties in a minute? Please get someone something better, like a book with a storyline or a game that they can interact with or a bath soak they can enjoy. Sure, the glow in the dark bits are fun for a three year old but the book has had its day. Go on the internet (you're there now!!!). These massive books just end up filling bookshelf space. Thanks but no thanks. And if the lovely people who got it for my birthday read this then it was cool for a week but get me a book about the Isle of Man TT next time!

5 out of 5 stars The three I'm most recommend   November 23, 2007

I'd have to recommend three great books for Christmas this year, with GUINESS WORLD RECORDS 2008 topping my list (this five minutes anyway). The other two would be DON'T STOP ME NOW and DO ANTS HAVE ARSEHOLES? which are funny and would make wonderful stocking stuffers.

The usual fare is here in the GUINESS, but there's some new elements that will surprise you as people are constantly coming up with something to break that hasn't been tried, or an attempt to break an old record.

But the biggest selling point for this book is the glow-in-the-dark features. With behind the scenes "footage" this makes for one heck of a Christmas gift.

Brand new captivating spread designs. Fantastic new contemporary categories, More sections to help with homework, unusual experiments and human anatomy. Another book I found truly captivating is " The Ultimate Guide To Cosmic Ordering Empower Your Destiny:Take Control of Your Life" this is a truly Fantastic read.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book as Usual   October 10, 2007

The latest edition of the Guinness World Records is as good as ever with more records and statistics than any other in the series. With many bizarre records waiting to be found inside, this book never stops to keep you interested and entertained, the glow-in-the-dark features are also pretty cool with some very funny but also disturbing pictures. All in all a great book for the fact fanatic or anybody with a real interest into the weird and wonderful, wouldn't half make a bad Christmas present either...
