5 out of 5 stars Enchanting Romance.....   August 19, 2008
I was intrigued at the widespread interest in this book, over the years my interest grew and I had to find out what all the excitement was. I had no idea what to expect from this young adult book, I was pleasantly surprised! I must admit what I noticed at the core of this story is 'Romance', which I did not expect. It reminds me of my school days and longing to see the boy you like, there is a lot of this in the book, which is fun and enjoyable!

The story is mainly about Bella and a vampire she meets named Edward, although she does not know what he is to begin with and their ping-pong dialogue whilst she trys to find out is captivating! The book moves at a steady pace and keeps your interest, the emotions the author catches in Bella's feelings for Edward are breathtaking,it made my eyes water!

The history of Edwards vampire family is interesting and believable.....The story is not full of action, or blood sucking, you are watching a relationship develop...to set the scene for the future books and the scene is set perfectly!
By reading this book you can clearly see Bella is in for a ride with her new vampire love and all the problems that could await....

' A girl in love with a boy... and the boy 'vampire' struggling with what is right and 'safe' for his new love'
I cant wait to see the story develop and I am eagerly awaiting New Moon!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant *****   August 19, 2008
The moment I picked this book up, I was hooked! It is written in such a way that you want to keep reading to find out what's going to happen next. I'm 16 and I do however believe that this book is best to be read by teenage girls because it captures the way a girl can fall for a guy and the emotions she goes through. So if there's a bad review then i expect it has been written by someone who this book isn't neccessarily aimed at. It brings such a bizarre context into someone's everyday life and makes you believe that it's not an impossible thing to happen. I would seriously reccommend this book to teenage girls, i thoroughly enjoyed reading it and can't wait to read the next one!!

5 out of 5 stars Mesmerizing!   August 19, 2008
After the final Harry Potter book came out, I didn't know what to do in terms of reading a series of books. The other day my friend was sitting on our school field reading a book, something which she normally doesn't do. I asked what she was reading and she said, 'Twilight! It's absolutely amazing! You'll love it, you must get it!' So I took her advice and bought it.
I didn't quite realise how much I would love it! I've become obsessed with it in a matter of days! I couldn't put it down!
The growing relationship between Bella and Edward is beautiful. The way in which she describes Bella's feelings for Edward has the reader falling in love with him as much as she is!
Her book captures the intensity of forbidden love and sexual tension and has the reader hooked from the first page!
This is the meaning of the word 'page-turner'!
My only regre is that I didn't buy the sequels at the same time! I'm sitting here impatientely for them to come through the post!
Brilliant for anyone who wants a brilliant new series to read!
Outstanding!

5 out of 5 stars forbidden love? fantastical creatures? and a well-written story? look no further   August 18, 2008
First let me say I thought I was too old to like this kind of book. It is aimed at young adults, whatever that means and as a 'mature 24 year old' on a strict masters degree this is not the sort of book I am suppose to enjoy.

Whatever. Who cares about rules like that? Meyer cites her influences as some of my favourite all-time writers; Austen, Montgomery, Alcott etc and the relationship between Bella and Edward reflects all the great couples in literature who love and lose and love again.

The book's strongest feature lies in the forbidden love between the two leads, coupled with the painful realisation of adolescent hormones and the knowledge that giving into those needs will lead to death and agony. Who can honestly say that that is not the most exciting and disturbing predicament they have read about all year?

I read this book on a pivotal monday morning when I should have been writing my thesis due in a matter of weeks; what higher recommendation can I give it then that?

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant, I couldn't put it down!!!!   August 17, 2008
This was a gripping read and I just couldn't put it down. I fell in love with the main characters, Edward and Bella and I can't wait to get my teeth into New Moon to find out what happens next!

I think that you can measure the quality of a book when you are sad at reaching the end, when you want more, more, more! Thats just how I feel right now.

I am now about to order the rest of the books in the series!
