2 out of 5 stars NOT AT ALL WHAT IT PROMISES TO BE..   March 18, 2008

`EVERYDAY PEOPLE` JUST HAPPEN TO BE THE WRITER`S FRIENDS AND RELATIONS, WORKMATES ETC - AND PERSONALLY I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT ONE PERSON CAN KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD A GHOSTLY ENCOUNTER...
THE BOOK IS VERY SHORT - NOT MUCH IN IT REALLY - DEFINATELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
THUMBS DOWN.

5 out of 5 stars Splendid book -- No false advertising   April 16, 2005

I'll have to disagree with "fatmanupnorth" about this book. The subtitle is "True Stories of Paranormal Encounters from Everyday People" and that's exactly what it is. The subtitle is NOT "True Stories of Paranormal Investigations from Everyday People". I got what I expected based on the title, and was quite pleased with it. This book is written better than most other books I've come across in this genre, and there is no "filler" information, which is probably why it's a bit thin. On the whole, this book was quite an entertaining and, at times, chilling read.

2 out of 5 stars Too thin and lacking any in depth investigation.   October 7, 2004

I am sorry not to go along with everyone else who has reveiwed this book but I thought for one it was too short and it wasn't in depth enough to be a thouroughly compelling read. It is a collection of stories that any of us could put together with a little bit of time on our hands. The collection of stories is from people who the author either works with or family members reciting stories along the lines of "well I have never experienced anything myself but a friend of a friend heard that something happened". We can all exploit local legends and call them "other worldly experiences". There were a couple of stories that were interesting but overall the book was too short and the stories were too watered down and not in depth enough to give them any real credibility.

this book was a fantastic read, once picked up i couldn't put it down, the only fault with this book was it was too thin, two hours reading and i'd finished it, and i wanted more!! worth reading. This book makes you think of the strange things that happen all around us everyday.

5 out of 5 stars Top-Notch Ghost Stories!   July 30, 2003

The Ghost Next Door is a wonderful little collection of true American ghost tales. The stories contained within its pages are fresh, entertaining, and quite eerie. A splendid pre-bedtime read. Unlike many books in this category, this one isn't watered down with irrelevant background information. The author does us a favor by getting to the heart of the matter in each story. And what intriguing matters they are! I highly recommend this title. A wonderful addition to any collection.
