Sun Tzu "The Art of War" was excellent. This book is a great book on strategy. Whether you command a nations army, war games or a moderen business. If the reader uses some of these war tactics and strategies in the modern world, they may find it easy to relate. Thus it is easy to relate to this book. Even rivals in sports and entertainment can be outwitted by the wisdom in this book. It also adds examples of some actions, which show how these sayings and writings apply to the real world.

So no matter what you were looking for in this book, whether it be business, sports, war games, or actual wars, you can be sure to learn more on how to best deal with the situation through the strategies in this book.

4 out of 5 stars sun su , the art of war   October 15, 2003

i found the art of war very informative , and gives you a great insight into the tactics of war , most of the information is still very relavent to todays general , the only thing i found not relevent to today was the fact that the book went into great detail about the types of terrain ,and its use in a battle plan , not so relavent after the introduction of air power .
but a good book all the same . invaluable as part of your collection !

5 out of 5 stars Compact but concise   October 1, 2003

The author did an amazing job of cramming the complete Art of War of General Sun-Tzu, in this little book. I have read several versions and have to say this book is worth the money and is defiantly worth a read. I especially enjoyed the section on the tar tars.

Final words, this book is really worth its money.

5 out of 5 stars Wisdom of the ages   May 3, 2003

Cleary's introduction to the text may be overly long but he does make some very valid points as to how to read such classics. Given that the book is sold as a one off I'd say that this is entirely welcomed as it gives the uninitiated reader much more to go on. Keep going back to this book, the more you dip into it the more you get from it. Context is everything though - trying to force yourself to see what is meant is like trying to force blood from a stone. You have just got to keep coming back when the feeling takes you and things start making a whole lot more sense. There is true wisdom within these pages, you just have to be patient with it, it won't all come at once.

5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENCE OF SUN TZU - THE ART OF WAR   October 31, 2002

The art of war by Sun Tzu really is a book of excellence. This book forewarded by B.H. Liddell Hart really helps you to unterstand the chapters written by Sun Tzu, the well structured introduction gives examples of the chapters in action. Also, the comments of other legends given in the chapters are helpful, in that it gives a deep understanding of the words of Sun Tzu. The book is inspiring, the wise words of Sun Tzu implies to everyday situations, in that it enforces logical thinking of methods of solving everyday problems. This book is definatly one for purchase, to sharpen up your mind, or "sharpen your blades" as Sun Tzu states.
