This is an excellent book for those wishing to study the Bible in any depth, Ray Stedman has a wonderful way of bringing out the all imprtant details which are missed by the average lay-man.

I prefer to study the Bible a book at a time and look at it in context rather than looking at a few verses here and there. This book gives a very good overview of the issues, themes and recurring symbols in each book of the Bible so that when subsequently reading the Bible I know what to look out for and understand the meaning of what i am reading far better than if I read the Bible without the aid of this book. Ray Stedman's work is a must for anyone who prefers to study the Bible book by book.
