4 out of 5 stars Never judge a book...........   May 30, 2008
.........by its cover. Except in this case because not only is this book beautifully packaged but the contents are of the same high standard. It's been such a long time since I last read most of the Discworlds that most of these lovely snippets are unknown to me - and what a delight it is to read them again. I find that reading them isolated from their parent novels actually increases my awareness of their quality - and compels me to go back and read those novels again. Which is, I suppose, what is intended. Splendid.

5 out of 5 stars something to dip in and out of   February 17, 2008

... and that's what this book is meant to be - just something Pratchett be dipped in and out of. When you're looking for a bit of relief from the stresses of life but don't have the time to read a full Pratchett chapter then this is for you.

It's old look cover is a great disguise for a sneaky look at work. Even though most of my favourite lines aren't in it this is still a book that is a lot of fun, and it's nice to see someone elses view of the best bits.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Brilliant Mr Briggs!   December 27, 2007

Leave this book in the smallest room of the house for when you have a minute or two to contemplate the deeper things in life. There is one slight drawback, I lost a house guest for half an hour as they were busy reading and lost track of time!

3 out of 5 stars Good; But...   October 28, 2007

All the jokes of discworld in a single book, must be funny right. Well, it might just be coz i'm extreamly familia with all the material anyway, but this book seams to lack the carm witch makes Pratchett halerious. Its a laugh a minute, but it is no way comparable the plesure i get from even rereading a regual novel for the third or forth time.

5 out of 5 stars Worth the money   October 25, 2007

This is what it says it is, a compilation of wit from the discworld books. I disagree with the comment that if you have the books that this is a waste of money. I have them all and regularly re-read them, but I still loved this book. It's not one to sit down with and read through, it's more for dipping into when you need a smile. In fact it may be better if you have read the books, as then you can remember the whole scenario of the quote. Buy the book, leave it nearby, and flick through when passing it, it can brighten any day.
