1 out of 5 stars Then We Came to the End   June 27, 2008

I didn't get anywhere near the end of this book! Too many characters, none of which were remotely memorable or sympathetic. Overall, a tedious, pointless and faintly depressing read. Go for Douglas Coupland's JPod instead, now that is a good read!

3 out of 5 stars And FINALLY I've got to the end...   June 22, 2008
I wanted very much to enjoy this book and it certainly looked promising. I've been reading it on and off for the past four months and I have to agree with the majority of the other reviewers-the characters are not engaging and ultimately you don't end up caring what happens to any of them. In fact there were so many characters that I had trouble keeping track of them. However, where it does succeed is in its astute portrayal of office life. Sometimes it was so insightful and so truthful it was trully astonishing, and I'm not even exagerrating. I would go as far as to say its worth reading just for that...That said, I work in an office all day so I don't really want to go home and read about one however uncannily accurately its portrayed.

1 out of 5 stars Then we came to page 60...   June 22, 2008

Congratulations to C. J. Salisbury for making it to page 80....I'd lost the will to live 20 pages earlier.

I'd been fooled by the blurb on the cover into thinking that this would be an amusing account of office life but by the time I gave up, I'd yet to even smile at any of the dry ramblings about characters I couldn't engage with. The book made life in my office seem positively action packed and hilarious

I note readers who persevered with the book did indeed find it entertaining and maybe I should not have given in so quickly. Unfortunately I had paint to watch drying....

1 out of 5 stars Then we came to the endurance test....   June 19, 2008

It is not often that I don't finish a book, but this was one such time. The characters were not engaging, I couldn't really discover the point of the story and the whole thing felt constructed. I was very disappointed - didn't get past page 91 because I was having to force myself to pick the book up. NOT recommended.

...which is when I decided to give up.
Note to self - never buy a book which includes in its title the words 'a novel.'
