Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Lacking in design tips   June 28, 2008
This book is a good source of information on mosaics, however it seriously lacks a section on how to design your mosaic. Also, the style of the mosaic artist(s) is not very varied, so if their thing is not yours, you'll be hard pressed to get inspired. The step by step guides are helpful but could do with more images of the different steps. As a beginner I do not find this guide enough to get me going properly. However, it's a pretty book and easy to read.

5 out of 5 stars Refreshing and different ideas for mosaics.   November 7, 2001

This book was extremely inspirational and after reading it I couldn't wait to get my hands dirty with adhesive and grout. As with other books this publication goes into all the equipment and the technical details required to make mosaics, but its quirky and colourful pictures set it apart. It gives a zaney, rich and fun element to mosaics which is invigorating and has a very different slant to other books on mosaics. The fabulous use of colour in the tiles and grouts give the work portrayed a magical quality. This book is suitable whether you are a beginning, or very experienced, mosaic arist. If you are looking for something different and want to add sparkle to your mosaics buy this book. The authors emphasise the fact that you don't have to be wealthy to create wonderful mosaics, that you just need to have a sense of fun and a good nose for seeking out broken tiles, plates, garden pots, shells or pebbles, in fact anything. This book will see readers rolling up their sleeves in order to create their own wonderful, fun and creative mosaics.

A bright and colour book of eclectic mosaics using broken tiles, crockery and found objects.Beautifully photographed but not for the conservative mosaicist!
