4 out of 5 stars Carol Ann Duffers....my fave.....   April 16, 2007
i imagine those of you that are studying these poems for gcse or similar have found what a pleasure carol ann duffys work is. happy go lucky sorties of death and betrayal are made a little easier and beasts such as "education for leisure" and "salome" are a little less dark and harrowing.... almost. good buys them books.

There is nothing better then going to bed with a nice big cup of hot chocolate and a good carol ann duffy poem. Take me for example I do this on a daily basis and I can't think of anything more relaxing and intermate for me to do. My Fvaourite poem must me 'Havisham' as I feel that this woman has been through depsperiate times and allows me to think how lucky i am to be where i am. A defienite good read from a fit 'bird' whom explores the dark side of sexual intermicy.

I struggled a lot with trying to understand the concepts of pre 1914 poetry, and the rather tedious poems from Duffy and Armitage, however, this books amazingly allowed me to see these poems in a whole new light. The book is short and to the point; no faffing around with pages and pages of garbling nonsense. York Notes teaches you how to compare poems, and how to understand them. It includes all the poems needed for the AQA course, and probaly some others. This is a must have for you revision book collection!

5 out of 5 stars An Awesome Book by an Awesome Teacher!   March 8, 2004

When my English teacher told us that he had written a book on the Anthology poems for our 2004 exam, I was a little skeptical as to whether the book would be of any good and decided to read it to find out for myself.

I was totally wrong for being skeptical as I should've known he would write an awesome book to help us out with our studies for our GCSE's!

Mr David Pinnington is my GCSE English teacher, and I am so glad I have him teaching me after reading this book! This is a MUST for any 15-16 year old who is currently studying the poems in the Anthology. It has everything you need to get an A or even an A* grade at English Literature. It includes detailed notes on all poems by Carol Ann Duffy and Simon Armitage that are in the Anthology. I am currently using it for my revision and I don't know what I'd do without it!

I definately recommend this, it is an outstanding book.

Nice one Mr P!
