5 out of 5 stars Brilliant, brilliant   June 26, 2008

This is the 2nd book from Lois - I loved every word - even my Mother-in-Law loved them - high praise indeed. Having met the lass on many occasions this book shows her natural ability to tell it as it is. Rather like Ted Simon's books - Lois is better in the second book.... "a must read" for all thinking of going for a long motorcycle ride that dreams are made of...

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant - I loved every minute!   June 4, 2008

Lois Pryce decides to leave her mundane job at the BBC and go in search of adventure. She plans a lone motorcycle journey starting in Alaska and ending in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in South America (even though she could only speak a few words of Spanish and knew minimal motorcycle maintenance!) Details of the journey are told with great warmth and humour. Highlights include; how to deal with a human roadblock in Mexico; how to cope with a horrific travelling companion; where you can find a group of mechanics who are all Antonio Banderas lookalikes and how to adapt your driving style in Guatemala.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was much more about the journey and the people rather than just places which made it interesting and easy to read. This is one brave woman! I can't wait for her next adventure.

A fantastic account of an epic unsupported motorcycle adventure by a very brave young woman; positively side splitting at times and thought evoking at others. This is brilliantly written, very original and i struggled to put it down at times - highly recommended even if you are not a motorcycle enthusiast.

Terrific book! Has been circulated to friends and friends wives. Buy this one if you want to encourage your girlfriend to get on a motorbike. Easy to read, good fun, and interesting to see a womens perspective on adventure motorcycling.

I would recommend this to anyone who is an adventurer at heart. Easy to read and very funny. She's braver than me!
