Eureka! December 2, 2003 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I am a woman of 47 years. I have been investigated over 20+ years for chronic fatigue and tendency to depression among other symptoms. But I believe that this is me - a woman holding it together with huge compensations - a woman struggling to live with ADD with Hypoactivity. Now that this book has helped me to understand myself and others I am off to read as much as I can and have the self belief to take it up with my physician again. This book is a must for anyone who suspects they may have ADD/ADHD or who know someone else who has.
Read it for a friend or relative. Now I understand Mom. August 20, 1999 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I read to book at the request of a good friend diagnosed with ADD. I was skeptical at first, but the book clearly outlines the problems without being sensationalistic or overly sympathic. I can see that I need to change my behavior. In some ways I was putting my friend in an untenable situation.
Very Imformative and easy to read! April 27, 1999 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having a son recently diagnosed with ADHD I started doing some research. The more I read the more I identified with the ADHD profile. This book is a wonderful resource specifically addressing the issues that face women with ADHD.I would highly recommend this book for any woman diagnosed or who thinks she has ADD/ADHD!
2 paragraphs for single women? PLEASE! Discouraging! March 17, 1999 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Barely a shred of help for single low income women whose budget cannot afford paid coaches. A friend ship is too precious to risk the stress of serious coaching. Too overwhelming, too whirling, too time consuming. Suggestion: (1)a digital kitchen timer (2)How many minutes can you stand doing the task (20 min my max)(3)start;at end stop even if not finished (4)do something else for a minute (5) set timer again. Use tunnel vision on each segment. I wish book addressed these sorts of helps.
This book was talking about me!!! December 24, 1998 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Yes, there are people with ADD who aren't hyperactive! This book was highly enlightening to me for two reasons. First of all, it talked about the 'hypoactive' kind of ADD- the kind without the H(yperactivity). Secondly, it dealt specifically with adults and the struggles adults face dealing with ADD. And third, the fact that it was specific to women was also very helpful. Like I said earlier, I felt like the book was talking about me, as if it had me as a source or something (well, except for the parts specific to married people with children). If you are a woman and think you might have ADD, read this book. If you know a woman with ADD (or ADHD), read this book. If you know me, read this book! I'm not alone in this after all! Wow!
