Reassuring, informative, if a little american March 8, 2008 Really good book, lots of detail, good pictures showing you exactly what you need to know. A UK version would be better, but in general this was a hugely reassuring book to be able to check symptoms in. The complete reference on all things cat.
Cat Owners Vet Hanbook is a good reference guide February 2, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The book was published in 1983 and there is a fear that some of the information and recommended treatment may be out of date or would not be recommended now adays, but still a great point of reference. I have had numerous occasions where a cat has had a certain ailment, the vet surgery is closed and you need some reassurance of what treatment is needed, so this book gives you an idea of how to treat the cat yourself or put you at ease. I recently collected 2 five week old kittens earlier than expected, as the mother cat had stopped feeding them - this book gave me invaluable advice on how to care and feed the kittens and their expected weight etc. The advice from the book worked and I had the kittens checked out by the vet and they have been given a clean bill of health. I could not have coped without the book.
Excellent, But A Bit Too Americanised January 2, 2002 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Although this book is full of practical advice and easy to understand information, I found that it is a little too geared towards the US market.A revised UK version would be stupendous. A very good book nevertheless.
Excellent, easy to read and concise March 9, 2001 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I found this to be thorough and detailed about various problems. It is written with the cat owner in mind and not a vet, so it is easy to understand. It tells you in detail how to do mouth to mouth in an emergency, which other books don't. It also gives good advice on what do do if your cat drinks various poisons. The best cat medical book I have bought.
This book offers a comprehensive resource for cat owners. January 4, 1999 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a must-have for any cat owner. While it does help to have a basic understanding of medical terms, the book offers an in-depth resource for ailments of all types as well as information on basic cat-care. Photos throughout the book aid in visual recognition of signs and symptoms of a multitude of illnesses.
