4 out of 5 stars A compassionate insight into liers of use to their victims   September 21, 2000

I read this book in an attempt to understand a friend who I learnt had created extensive lies/fantasies about himself for more than 20 years. This book was the only one of several I looked at which not only covered the very many types of lying there are, and fascinating sub categories, but also was compassionate to the perpetrator while also assisting the victim in two important ways: a deeper and quite kind understanding of the phenomenon, alongside a supportive understanding about the very real damage wrought on the lives of those connected to them. I recommend this book for being detailed, humane and moral.
