5 out of 5 stars A must own book   November 27, 2007

I feel if everyone who owns or works with sheep only ever buys one book this is the one to get. You may think it is pricy but believe me it is invaluable. Fantastic to help you diagnose problems and help you understand how to dael with them. Set out in an easy to use manner. Covers all the problems from lambing right through the sheeps life. Also includes a practical managment section. Make sure you own this book.

5 out of 5 stars All a flockmaster could want in one book.   April 29, 2000

D Henderson has perfected the balance between practical aspects and science to create a managerial guide and reference volume in one book.

Seriously sheepish people will benefit from these pages; whether shepherd, farmer, or student as just about everything is covered - in a way that's interesting and understandable, yet informative and in enough depth to get to the root of the problem. Cure yes, but also prevention!

I'd had my eye (from a distance) on this book for a long while, I now regret not acquiring it sooner.

5 out of 5 stars A "must have" book for anyone who keeps sheep   August 21, 1999

The bible for everyone who keeps sheep from smallholders to large scale farmers.

David Henderson is a practising vet in the UK but with experience in the US as well. The book reflects his expertise, and sometimes clashes with traditional farming practice, usually explaining why.

The book is well illustrated, with mainly black and white photographs, as well as illustrations where appropriate. I have used the book for seven years and never found a problem that couldn't be diagnosed.

When professional help is required is addressed well, but details are usually provided for those that are more confident and want to have ago themselves. The book isn't at all patronising towards the general farmer.

Buy it now, have a browse and then keep it handy for when things go wrong.
