5 out of 5 stars Excellent to learn image interpretation   April 29, 2007
The really great thing about this book is the use of cut sections through frozen cadavers pictured alongside actual U/S images of the same anatomical plane. Dissections or idealised diagrams do not show the real 3 dimensional arrangements of organs, especially in the cranial abdomen. After having used ultrasound in practice for 8 years I felt reasonably experienced but this book improved my understanding and interpretative ability greatly.

3 out of 5 stars A bit disappointing   April 29, 2004

This certainly is an impressive-looking book and it contains lots ofinformation. On the other hand, the section on principles is very basic, the pancreatic and musculoskeletal images are poor, multiple examples ofcertain lesions are included for no apparent reason, and the clinicalrelevance of some of the Doppler studies is unclear. 5 out of 5 stars Great to start into the world of ultrasonography   March 26, 2003

Although the book "Small Animals Diagnostic Ultrasound" from Nyland and Mattoon is considered the bible of small animal ultrasonography, I found this book great to learn, lots of drawings of anatomy and probe placement and every ultrasound image is next to an interpretation drawing, that help those who are starting. Plenty of normal and pathology images, and the most common differential diagnosis. In a few chapters I think is also more complete than “Nyland”. If you are just starting I think this book will definitely help you more to get into the world of ultrasonography. Afterwards when you are more familiarized with the technique, you will need the text bible!
